Clomid Success Rates

If you have researched and tried many other ways of getting pregnant, then it may be time to give clomid a try. I am a fertility consultant and I am always interested in studying clomid success rates. If you are looking for basic statistics, you will find that the clomid success rate is about 40% after six months on the drug. Of course there are many factors which will increase or decrease the clomid success rates. As a fertility consultant I have seen clomid used by numerous women with and without success, which has led me study just what affects clomid success rates. Of particular interest to me have been clomid success rates by age, clomid success rates with PCOS and clomid success rates on the first cycle. Through my experience and statistics, let me share with you what I have found.

    Clomid Success Rates By Age

When women reach the age of 35,often their natural ability to conceive decreases. Sadly also, clomid success rates by age decrease. Clomid is an ovulation stimulant only. If you already ovulate then there is no real need to take clomid. Clomid success rate by age will not increase at all in women who ovulate regularly. If your cycle is more or less than 28 days, and if you have trouble knowing when you are ovulating, then clomid may be prescribed. Clomid success rate by age is also influenced by egg supply. Clomid does not increase egg supply. If a woman's egg supply is low or dwindling, then clomid will not increase the chances of fertility.

    Clomid Success Rates With PCOS

If you have PCOS, and are trying to get pregnant, then chances are you will be prescribed clomid to assist with ovulation. Clomid success rates with PCOS are dependent on whether or not clomid can get the woman to ovulate. Statistics suggest that 75% of women who do not ovulate, will ovulate at some stage on clomid. The clomid success rates with PCOS which end in pregnancy however, are very low at 10%-15%, and this as long as the sperm and fallopian tubes are normal.

Clomid Success Rates On First Cycle

The clomid success rates on the first cycle is 30% and if you have no complications other than ovulation (including no problems with sperm), then I can suggest some strategies to increase the clomid success rates on the first cycle. Firstly ensure that you are neither overweight or underweight. A healthy body has a BMI of between 18.5 and 24.9. I would advise you to have your BMI checked by your doctor to increase the clomid success rate on first cycle, and wait until your body is in a healthy range before undertaking the first cycle of clomid. Clomid success rates on first cycle can also be influenced by excessive exercise before and during the cycle. I would advise you to exercise only moderately the month before the cycle of clomid and during the month when you take it. Finally, I wish you well on your quest to get pregnant. My advice to you is to try everything you can! Listen to all advice and read everything. Go to the library, read magazines or get an e-book. Some e-books will refund your money if you don't succeed - which makes economic sense these days. Good luck!

Fertility Treatments

Fertility Treatments

If you have been trying to conceive and have not yet succeeded, then you may consider looking into alternative ways to get pregnant. The fertility treatments available these days are endless and range hugely in price. As an IVF consultant, I see people spend upwards from $10,000 on fertility treatments every day! Here I outline some of the most common treatments available at a range of prices. However, before you try any of the more expensive options, I recommend that you try the cheaper fertility treatments first.

    Fertility Treatments For Women

If you are looking for advice on how to increase fertility, I hope that by now you have tested your partners sperm. Male infertility accounts for 35% of all infertility, so it is important to get sperm analysed at a clinic before embarking on any major fertility treatments. Fertility treatments for women should really start at ovulation, after all, this is the essential time to get pregnant. Infertility is commonly caused by ovulation problems. The best way to determine when or if you are ovulating, is to purchase an ovulation kit. Keep a record of the test results and the day in your cycle that you ovulate as you may need this information later on. The rule is simple. Have intercourse ONE TIME on the days that you are ovulating.

If after three to six months of using an ovulation kit you do not fall pregnant, then you may need assistance from a clinic. The clinic will give your body a full check to determine what may be causing the infertility. It could be many factors, and fertility treatments for women are determined by individual needs. If ovulation is a problem you will be put on a course of a drug called clomid. Clomid aides in stimulation for ovulation. Statistics suggest that 75% of women who do not ovulate WILL ovulate when given clomid. Clomid however does not increase egg production and is less effective in woman over 35 years of age. With most fertility problems, IVF may be the next and final step. Although the success rate is only 40% (and this statistic is not based on the first cycle) it does beat many fertility problems where normal conception simply will not occur. The IVF success rate does decrease for woman over the age of 35, and also in woman with PCOS and problematic fallopian tubes.

    Fertility Treatments Cost

Fertility treatments cost vary depending on what you willing to do, and on what you are willing to pay. A male semen analysis with cost around $600 and is an essential part of any serious attempts at having a baby if you think as a couple that fertility is a problem. Ovulation kits range in price from $20 - $150 and are essential in determining if you are ovulating. A three month course of clomid can cost under $300, especially if you purchase it online rather than from a fertility treatment centre. In terms of fertility treatment costs, IVF is at the top of the scale. Prices for IVF are dependent on the clinic and the individual needs of the patient. Prices range between $10000 - 15000 for the first cycle. If embryos are frozen from the first cycle, then subsequent implantation costs range from $2000 - $4000. There are numerous other fertility treatments for women which are lower in cost than clinical treatments, and that have excellent success rates. Before you start paying a lot of money, I would advise you to read as much information as you can. Search the net, go to the library or purchase an e-book online. Some e-books fertility treatments e-books have 100% success rates or come with a money back guarantee - which hopefully you won't have to use! I wish you well in your quest for pregnancy and motherhood! Good luck!
